Summer's Out for School

Welcome back to a new school year and a fresh round of Prep Time!

Dear Reader,

Starting next week, you can expect your Monday morning dose of Prep Time. This fall, we’re going to continue exploring the intersection of education research and practice; in particular, we will do a deeper dive into mathematics instruction as well as the role working memory should play in lessons. We will also take time to reflect on the unique context we find ourselves in. Teachers and kids are relearning school this year, an extraordinary and fraught opportunity. Through it all, I remain committed to focusing on the how: how do we support deep learning and growth for our students; how do we build strong classroom and school communities; how do we evaluate our practices and continue to engage in professional learning.

Of course, there will be plenty of extra-credit reading along the way.
